CONFOTUR savings calculator

A unit in a CONFOTUR-approved project is exempt from the 3% transfer tax on first transfer and from the annual 1% IPI for 15 years. Enter the price to see the transfer-tax saving; add the current IPI threshold and exchange rate to estimate the IPI saving too.

The tax is on the higher of price and appraisal.

How it works

The transfer tax is 3% of the higher of the price and the DGII appraisal, paid once at transfer. IPI is 1% a year on the value above an exempt threshold; the 15-year figure assumes the value stays flat, which it rarely does. For individuals, IPI looks at all your Dominican property together, so a second property can change the result.

The exemption belongs to the project, not to you: ask for the CONFOTUR resolution and have your attorney verify it. See CONFOTUR explained and projects with CONFOTUR.

An estimate for planning, not legal or tax advice. Confirm figures with a Dominican attorney and the DGII before you rely on them.
